Hello!

The first day of practice was GREAT! Everyone worked super hard and we got in some decent yardage and a good variety of sets. It was so cool to feel everyone's excitement and see 31 swimmers in the pool at the same time. We are going to have a great season and I am super proud!! 

As I figured it might be, transportation was a bit of a mess and bus riders made it to school with about 15 minutes to get ready. Yikes! I did get with the LHS attendance office so if your swimmer was a bus rider and got to 6th period late, they should not be marked tardy or absent. If they are, please let me know and I will take care of it. :-) 

On that note, I am on top of the transportation issue (there are just not enough drivers) to ensure that we are picked up no later than 9:00 am on a daily basis. Tomorrow (Tuesday, Aug. 23rd) we will arrive at 6:45 am again and then I will get us out in time for bus riders to wash hair, etc. at Blockhouse so that if we end up in that situation again we aren't rushing as much. And, it's picture day through English classes so I know your swimmers will want to look decent. :-) 

Just so everyone knows too, we can't use the showers at Blockhouse on a daily/regular basis because they are not staffed to clean up after us daily. In addition, I teach a class right after swimming and also need time to get dressed - which I cannot do at Blockhouse. But, we can temporarily use them until we get something figured out. It's also a little blessing that I will be gone for a few days because it gives the transportation department some time to figure things out for us! 

One last thing about Blockhouse-several swimmers left equipment out, someone left clothes, and there were shoes out as well. Swimmers MUST pick up after themselves. We are at an outdoor public pool and there's no room for the high school to have a "lost and found". I remind them constantly, but an extra voice doesn't hurt. :-) 

I will be heading out of town on Wednesday so this will be my last email for the week. I will be back in touch at the beginning of next week! Practice times are going to remain the same until we have a consistent bus schedule. If I make any changes it will be that we arrive at the pool later (7:00 am or possibly 7:15 am) and I will let you all know as soon as transportation has things worked out. HERE is the schedule again. *Please note that flexing doesn't begin until the week of Sept. 12th since we are not in the water/at practice for 5 full days until then. 

Finally, please, please don't forget to sign up on Swimtopia to work at the football game this week - Thursday, August 25th! It's great, and very easy, money for our team!
