LHS Swim-Weekly Update 10/3-10/7
October 2nd
Hello Everyone!
I hope you have all had a great weekend! We had a busy and fun-filled Homecoming week (and weekend) for sure! If you don't follow us yet on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram - go find us and check out the great pics! The front page of our Swimtopia website has all the links. :-)
This week kicks off our busy part of the season. We have 3 meets in October and each week of October has several things going on. Please make sure you have our Sept/Oct Calendar AND our Oct/Nov Calendar bookmarked and accessible.
Here is your weekly info:
- Friday, October 7th is our FIRST LHS Invite. We have never hosted a meet this large and even if you can't come the whole time to judge or time, any time you can come to support the swimmers or guide the other teams would be great. As of now, we do still need some judges and a starter. Also, TISDO is up and running with the exams! If you have been around swimming, I promise it is not that hard! You will have to study a little bit for some technical pieces but other than that, it's not too bad! It's a great certification to have because it gets you a front-row seat at meets that can be hard to get into. :-)
- Oct. 7th meet info is attached. I will also get the heat sheet and meet the timeline to y'all once all teams have turned in their entries. It will be Monday or Tuesday so be on the lookout for that email.
- Tarps are on the pool now and we will have a "tarp schedule" starting next week. Certain groups of swimmers will be in charge of getting the tarps off as soon as I open the pool. The Captains will put that schedule together this week and I will get it out to y'all next week. This week, we will have the Captains showing the Freshman how it works. :-)
- Please be on time to practice. I know it's early and this is the time of year when it gets harder to get out of bed. This week we had several swimmers 10-15 minutes late to each practice. This results in a reduction of 10 points for each tardy for the weekly grade and may result in an attendance contract and/or being removed from a meet. Being on time is part of discipline and respect for the team. Please make sure your swimmers are packed the night before to start the next day off smoothly.
- Allergy season is also here. Feeling a little crummy and tired may be more prevalent this time of year. Some low-dose allergy meds and/or nasal sprays are helpful, especially since we are outside so much.
- We are still waiting on suits from Swim Freak for some of our girls. I am so sorry that it has taken this long. I will get the suits to the swimmers as soon as I have them!!
That's all for now!! Enjoy the rest of your weekend and I will see you all on Friday!! As always, thank you for sharing your swimmers with me each and every day! :-)
