LHS Swim-May Schedule/Important Update
Hi Everyone!
I have a couple of "May" end-of-year things for you!
HERE is the schedule for May and the rest of the school year! Woohoo!! We will be at the pool until May 19th. The last week of school is full of celebrations, tests, and other things so we will be in "study hall" on campus.
I also wanted to address some "chatter" and "drama" that has been going on. As a parent reading this, your swimmer may not be involved at all and you may not know anything about what I am addressing - and that's ok. :-) With the team being less busy than we normally are, the end of the school year, everyone being ready for a break, and Captain elections, there has been a lot of opinions/gossip amongst a large part of the team, and I am putting a stop to it. I am very up front and transparent about my expectations - we are a team always and we need to treat each other individually with respect because everyone has an important role on this team. I do not tolerate "drama" or exclusion/bullying of anyone and when it is brought to me, I will address it. In the last couple of weeks, a few things have been brought to my attention, and I have heard/seen some situations as well.
In light of all of this, I have assigned the swimmers the creation of a Vision Board. The directions are on our Google Classroom and I have posterboard for everyone, and swimmers can print color pictures at school if they want/need to. It is important that every team member engages in this and that is why I am letting you all know about it as well. :-) It is due on Monday, May 8th during Study Hall. Swimmers do not have to present this to the team, but certainly can if they want to. The purpose of this is to build cohesiveness because they all have lots of things to contribute to the team, to see each other as unique individuals, and hopefully, they can see how the team contributes to their well-being too.
Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have questions! To protect the privacy of each swimmer, I cannot address anything that doesn't directly involve your swimmer, but I am happy to answer any questions you may have. If you could also check in with your swimmer about their Vision Board I would appreciate it!
Thanks and we're almost done!!!!
